In June of 1990, BLOC Development hired me as a Software Engineer to enhance and support a product to automate the layout of business forms. Their product was a CAD system that allowed users to interactively develop business forms at a PC, print proof copies on laser printers and generate output files to drive typesetting equipment used to print the business forms in bulk quantities. Features I added to the product included a color WISIWIG user interface showing Pantone ink colors, EPS images and actual paper color depending on form layer. To assist in this task, I developed several stand-alone utilities for manipulating bit mapped and PostScript graphic images. I also added support for various proprietary display and output devices. This project was coded in C and ran on PC's in the MS DOS environment.
